Lawyer Referral Service
Lawyer Referral is a means for local attorneys to get involved and help the community while building their practice. Through our Lawyer Referral Service ("LRS") program, we refer individuals in St. Joseph County to Bar Association attorneys who can help meet their needs.
The LRS program covers cases involving administrative law, bankruptcy, business, criminal law, employment and labor, environmental law, estate planning and administration, family law, health care, intellectual property, litigation, mediation, real estate law, and others.
If a client comes to you with a matter outside of your areas of expertise, please send them to us! Our number is 574.235.9657. We can also be reached via e-mail at stjoelrs@gmail.com. If you are an attorney and are interested in being added to our lawyer referral service panel, please call Dianna Kuczmanski at 574.235.6753, for more information and an application.

Volunteer Attorneys Needed for Disaster Recovery Help
President Bush has declared 37 of Indiana’s 92 counties as major disaster areas eligible for disaster aid. The Indiana State Bar Association (ISBA) has gotten approval from the ABA to create a hotline for Indiana residents in the counties affected by the flooding. This hotline is for all residents who sustained losses in any county declared a federal disaster area and are in need of free legal advice. The hotline number is 1.800.266.2581 and it is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The ISBA will be taking calls from flood victims and referring them to volunteer attorneys to assist with questions on insurance claims, replacing legal documents, help with home repair contracts, advice on problems with landlords, help with guardianships, etc. This effort will be coordinated by the ISBA Young Lawyers Section. The SJCBA is soliciting volunteer attorneys who are willing to assist flood victims with pertinent legal information. If you are willing to volunteer, please contact Alaina Byers at abyers@inbar.org. Thanks!
