New Lawyer Committee Chair
We are pleased to announce that Victoria Wolf is the new Chair for the New Lawyers Committee. Victoria agreed to take on the position that Mike Arnold vacated when he relocated last month to Fort Wayne. She was previously a student member of the Association, and she is currently an Associate with the law firm of May Lorber Oberfell. Victoria’s enthusiasm and great ideas have already impressed us all. If you are interested in joining this Committee, or would like to help plan future events, please contact Victoria at vwolf@maylorber.com.
If you have not been receiving e-mails regarding New Lawyer activities, and would like to be added to the list, contact Amy McGuire

Volunteer Attorneys Needed for Disaster Recovery Help
President Bush has declared 37 of Indiana’s 92 counties as major disaster
areas eligible for disaster aid. The Indiana State Bar Association (ISBA) has
gotten approval from the ABA to create a hotline for Indiana residents in
the counties affected by the flooding. This hotline is for all residents who
sustained losses in any county declared a federal disaster area and are in
need of free legal advice. The hotline number is 1.800.266.2581 and it is
open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The ISBA will be taking calls from flood victims and referring them to volunteer
attorneys to assist with questions on insurance claims, replacing legal
documents, help with home repair contracts, advice on problems with
landlords, help with guardianships, etc. This effort will be coordinated by the
ISBA Young Lawyers Section. The SJCBA is soliciting volunteer
attorneys who are willing to assist flood victims with pertinent legal
information. If you are willing to volunteer, please contact Alaina Byers at
abyers@inbar.org.

Welcome! New Faces in the Law Library
Dianna Kuczmanski is our new Lawyer Referral Specialist. Dianna has a
strong paralegal background, and she has been a wonderful help in sorting
out the Lawyer Referral program. Dianna has been busy matching potential
clients to participating attorneys, and she reminds us that she is always
looking for more attorneys to participate in the Lawyer Referral Program.
There is a $25 fee to be on the panel of attorneys which will allow you
referrals for up to 3 areas of practice. We especially need attorneys for
matters involving bankruptcy, foreclosure and immigration. Contact Dianna
at 574.235.9675 or via e-mail at stjoelrs@gmail.com.
Megan Brock is joining us from Texas, and is doing an internship with the
Bar Association. Megan just completed her first year at the University of
Texas School of Law. She is assisting with our Lawyer Referral Program,
and the upcoming Judicial Evaluation Survey.
We are thrilled to have both Dianna and Megan join us. Please stop by the
Law Library and say hello!
